Day two.

So many! So fast! He was running left and right as it was, being primary check-out-the-blue-hair Sei-and-Douwe-partner-duo take-care-of-everything wait-Rhaetia-wants-to-what Feltzen extraordinaire, but he had one person he'd promised to put before all else. With that in mind, he'd stayed up so late, so very late, reading everything she'd given him, everything he couldn't digest the day she'd said goodbye.

Just like that.

Please mail this to Kanita...
Okay, Marlene. Have a nice trip.

How strange. How very out of it he'd been the first day. The second day was when it was all coming at him; the idea that this was not Marlene but was; that... he paused, bit his lip. Okay. He was ready.

Time to tackle the man thing.

(GINGAJAR; I think I remember Caspar saying it was locked? If it's not I can edit!)

So, get in the room, right? That's what Caspar had said. It was with a certain amount of gusto and some simple humming Sei worked with the kitchen knife and the doorjam, working it between the lock and its security. He had promised Rick, and helping Rick WAS a priority, you know. Often, these things were priorities when someone saved your life...

That sort of deal. "Oi, Caspar, you really want me to keep working on this?"

My name is Sei Mallory.

I go by Hal sometimes, it seems. It was a stupid idea, but for someone like me to suddenly admit I'm still living would cause not only myself but many poepl eI care about a lot of grief. I assure you, that's the only time I've really been dishonest.

Then again, that might not matter.

There's been a lot of talk and gossip, rumours and accusations, but we've never gotten a chance to just come out and say it. This is why we left, this is what we're doing, that sort of shit. I'm tired of you all giving Arunafeltz a bad name. You act like you're... I don't know, like you are Freya, and though I don't doubt you might have heard a teaching or two, the way you're looking on the public scale is just as bad as the Midgardians are looking.

Listen, okay, you may not know what death does to people, but I'm sure some of you have lost people very important to you. Cie-Cie; Ise; you two, you should know. It's like, your soul is shattered just a bit. Family, friends, doesn't matter, it dulls just a tad. You can't trust as much.

Now imagine whole families gone. Everything that made your soul shine is gone. Those who have remained can remember how heartbreaking it was for us to leave. I remember the hysterical posts, the betrayal; and even us, on the other side, we still suffer. We get homesick more than you know... families, they're important, and they hurt to lose, that's the bottom line.

This is why they hate you, and they will continue to hate you so long as you keep spitting out lies. They are lies; I do have proof.

To start.

The weapon they were talking about in Juno, I guess, was actually what was keeping it up. There's a book they tried to take from there as well; it's now traveling around the world. Both of This things have has great power - but theyit causes much harm at the behest of the users. Basically, the Junoites would have never used that weapon, because if they used it, their city would fall.

They'd kill all the members just trying to attack your country. Second off - did you guys even know Juno existed before all of this? Hey. I didn't. I figured out Juno existed when I contacted the outside world and only then. How can we even say we had a grudge, or we'd done something to them? Feltzens did not know they existed.

Third. The book. It's a book that erases memories. It takes out something of someone - there's no advantage to using this weapon outside of complete self-sacrifice. As we've already ruled out the death of fifty-thousand people, this book, as well, a large secret, would be gone.

Now how about the advantages of making up a reason to fight Juno.

Juno was the academic center of all of Rune-Midgard. With a humongous library that had everything in it - (A while ago, there was a ball there - I got to go! It was really pretty, you know? My friend and I went to the library after that...) - information that is now lost for good, in a lot of circumstances.

Schwarzwald has no central military but it does have a central government. This government was localised and run in Juno, with a presedential figure living there. Eliminate Juno, eliminate the government, and a lot of ways for the government to seek help from Midgard.

Schwarzwald is a really advantageous country, you know? A lot of people go from Schwarzwald to the military in Midgard, but it's really out of the way, and it's the closest to Arunafeltz. Controlling that land is a high priority. That's why next they attacked Lighthalzen. Are you following me?

These acts of 'self-defense' have been acts of a very well-thought-out war. Though the war is attempting to start, maybe it already has beyond repair, there are other more sinister motives behind some of the moves. Faint tactics, if you will.

In the past two months both General Lise Guri Aisling and Priestess Valencia Vaux have run by through this place... They've come through here on acts of war... Leon Valmont, he's been here, still is, I think... I think... listen, it's a lot of trouble to listen to me, it really is.

But you have to keep listening.

Priestess Vaux came with a group of Priests and Priestesses, set for Glast Heim. In Glast Heim lies a seal, that holds the Dark Lord under the earth. The Dark Lord once eliminated almost all of the Feltzens, at that time just Freya-worshippers, living in Midgard. We retreated to the North, to Arunafeltz. We held a grudge.

Now, we're out to get back; and I was there, I was there fighting them. They were ready to unlock him. They were ready to kill the Midgardians.

Your country is using you. You are a last resort, back-water weapon - the type to explode right when Midgard is at its weakest. Our only hope, you all and I, is to stop this war. Stop it, before so many people die. We are guardians by nature.

Guardians protect.

There is no need to protect the aggressors, there never will be. Our basic needs lie in protecting the harmed, the endangered. You think they care about your lives? They readily told everyone we killed High Priestess Ishtar. They readily closed the country off. They arrived in Morroc at the slightest mention we were there, even if we were helping to fight off zombies, and chased me out.

Not to say they are horrible... but they are not right.

Are you still listening?

A nature-walk, hmm? Being there with friends was sort of nice, actually. In this kind of system, it seemed like nothing really could be different. Sure, he wasn't supposed to exist. What of it? He was here with Taranis and Douwe and certainly breathing. Maybe he should practice his glum face? Making one as he watched the trees it didn't turn out so well.

It'd been a long time coming, but with the recent events, Sei was taking a tremulous stand at "happy."

"Hey, Taranis." He called, jogging up. Behind him, the smokie Arden chattered irritably. He just hadn't been the same since Jory'd left.

"Bet you can't hold onto Arden for longer than five seconds."

Sei was back to smoking semi-regularly. Ah, stress! How wonderful you were? He'd write Ethne tomorrow, maybe. He swung the journal absently by his side, humming to himself. He'd figured Arden was alive, and finding out he was - great! But finding out he'd pulled that shit on Nora? Not so good. Realising that Nora only had him now, who seemed to be a truth teller in the Guild? Responsibility. To a near stranger! How did he get himself into these things? Write Ethne.

SMOKE.

Fuck, kill Lise.

SMOKE. He sighed, pushing away from the Guild and shivering just slightly. The weather definately was just as chilly here, hmm?

[Filter: Arden]

So, Arden, let's talk. Where are you? What're you doing?

Do you think it's funny? I know it's not funny. Arden, c'mon. Let's be reasonable here.

You can't be dead. I totally don't buy it, and Douwe's really upset, and I'm really pissed off you think this is cute, and really, it's just a matter of popular opinion that you're an asshole for making meher worry.

So how about you, and your little blonde head, get back here, okay? That way, you and I can go kick Lise's ass, Douwe isn't crying, and you two can go make bunnies in the corner somewhere, and it'll just like it usually is, okay?

I've never realised how inadequate I am for her until you went and disappeared.[smudged out]

Is it a good deal? I thought so. I'm a pretty reasonable guy!

Can I talk to you?

It's. It's about well. It's about what's going on. With where I'll be after the war.

The issue of food had yet to be adressed. Padding through the Guild at Sei's normal I don't really sleep much hour (Read: 1am), he was looking for some sort of fuel, somewhere, and was having a hell of a time getting there. Sure, you know, the Guild had been shown to him in bits and pieces, but like everyone else he'd been far more tired than he thought by the time he'd gotten back - he'd just curled up and slept, despit the absolute loneliness of having a room to one's own. (Sienna. :<)

Okay. When in doubt?

Keep wandering.

He considered waking Douwe, maybe, but she might shoot an arrow up his ass - and instead, he ended up stumbling upon the kitchen quite by accident.

Oh! There was Rick and who the hell was the girly looking guy next to him? Ah, he wasn't any more feminine featured than Sei was (and especially without his gel Sei was starting to get this hair-do going on with the long bangs that rivaled Caspar's SIGH get a haircut Sei and buy some more kohl.) but still... there were so many new people.

(Maybe it was just another Cathedral?)

"Rick! Fucking Freya, I'm so glad I found you." Sei called out.

The edge of Rahell.

It was a big deal to step over the edge, a theoretical, invisible line that was just there. There. Like... he took a short breath, pressed his foot along it, tapped, tapped. This was where he imagined it all, the last straw, the final breath. The ground didn't feel any different. The sky didn't look any different. But turning around, he could see it. The city in the twilight, painted from the outside. Hadn't he always seen these colours on their walls looking up? Now he'd climbed to such a point he could see the entire building along the horizon - what was gray-red now just a splotch.

Ah.

He crossed the line, swallowing, and moved towards the rendevous point.

To anyone else, Rahell continued for quite a bit, and his mother was stationed even farther away, but Sei'd made the gesture when he first wrote to Arden, and now he was dotting his is, crossing his ts, throwing a period on the end of the sentence. Where were the Assasins? Where were they?

Ah he'd missed his nap and thus was surely as all effin' hell when 10 o'clock rolled around. He was on his bed, burried arse deep into a book on Schwarzwaldern (thanks to the letters from Sylvester he would be receiving) and damned it all to fuck if he wasn't gnarly. He kept flicking his eyes to the door for when Sienna would come in, because he knew the moment she arrived,

ALL TENSION WOULD BREAK SPOON BWAHAHAHAHA SPOON (spoon.)

Sometimes this journal is really fucking awesome. If not hand-crampy. [gone~]

Dude, you know, I need to get more sleep. This is like the fifth time this week that damn water circle has taken me down a notch. I miss my hair gel actually doing it's job.

And sometimes it's not. Has Atolo cornered you yet? Fuck, that guy's making me nervous.

Contestant stands: CHECK!
(These were, of course, cleared off tables in the general meeting area.)
Judge's stand: CHECK!
(A set of chairs lined in a neat row on the far side)
Cool RockStar hair-do: CHECK!
(HAIR AS USUAL!)

Sei waited for his opponent on his stand, eyes glittering. Marcine would be coming to, no doubt - and so it would be!

It was almost 6am. Almost time for his shift.

Sei sighed, rolling his shoulder awkwardly. He'd just trained his ass off that morning for the first time in a long time. He'd become accustomed to the daily guardian maintenance training - his skill was relatively peeked, so said the trainers, so he didn't have to work too hard - but now he was demanding. He was saying his skill wasn't at peak, he was saying his skill had no peak, he was pushing himself, and he was being reminded of what it was like to make a body that wasn't meant for muscle try and gain it. When he thought of himself five years ago he could almost laugh. What was he trying to pull? Somehow, by some twist of fate, he was going to be a guardian, wasn't he?

The best fucking guardian there ever was. He'd already made plans - several plans - and one of which was to make sure he was a specimen among specimens. He was going to play nice and follow the rules. He was going to train like no other. He was going to be able to kick the ass of fucking Lady Ishtar's guards themselves, hell, no, fucking Odin and Freya and even that fake bitch Frigg. And then, he was going to make sure he could do it all blindfolded.

And then, he was going to make sure he could do it all as a quadraplegic.

That, among other things. So Arden was handling things outside, hmm? Yes, Ethne was handling things inside, but Sei had a certain mind about things of his own. It seemed to him that Ethne and Lethe weren't very good in combat. Actually, they sucked, as far as actually hitting something. Could Ethne kill a fly? He wasn't sure. Maybe if she swacked really hard and put all her weight into it.

And Lethe. She could dream the hell out of the enemy, all right. I WILL DREAM YOU TO DEATH RIGHT NOW, the image almost made him laugh. No, these weren't satisfactory ways for Oracles ready to go on the lam to be - but changing their physical condition was next to out of the question. He could train them a little bit (and fuck he would they better believe it) but he wasn't about to expect them to be Mike, Cie-Cie or Sigyn overnight. No, instead, he was going to make sure that they were prepared for things like... unexpected Union. Death. Rapists. Religious nuts. Bombs. Sickness. You know. The Real World.

And he was going to take it upon himself to make sure that he, Taranis, and whoever the fuck ended up coming with them were ready to handle three times as much as that. He was the first to figure out! He was in contact with Arden!

He was responsible! He opened Lethe's door without knocking, as was his custom, and shut it behind him. "Hey, Lethe - Ethne here?"

This. Is a tea log. [Jul. 20th, 2006|08:57 pm]
Well. He'd tried to read some books on it. Oh, oh, but they were books about tea, and now that he was forced to sit at the table in the general area, under the skylights, he thought better of himself - it was the hour between Sienna and his shift; and that way they could have tea together and not be neglecting Lethe, but Freya. Maybe he should have just stayed an extra hour that day.

What was he thinking, inviting Ciera, Marcine AND Sienna, all experienced tea drinkers, out for some tea? What was he thinking, really?

Closing his eyes and sighing, lightly, he let his chin thump to the table. He was, after all, the early rising one. It was natural for someone who was up at four in the morning to be tired by noon. The cup clattered as he hit the table. Sliding one eye open, he eyed it.

"Shit. This is going to be a disaster, isn't it, Cup?"

The cup didn't answer.

"Shit."

Character Relations

As of 080706
Sienna Sienna is his best friend currently.
Lethe Oracle. Though disrespectful to her, insanely protective of her. In a lot of ways he'd like to put her in his pocket, plushie-style.
Altair Thinks he's a gay creepy guy. Avoids. Like plague. Tolerates. Still thinks he's gay.
Marcine Turns out she was a tutor to him when they were kids. Puppy wuv.
Sigyn Dislikes. Doesn't hate; just dislikes. Thinks she's a little off her rocker.
Lilith Sympathizes. Pities, even. Wants to help. Doesn't know how -- but maybe...
Cie-Cie Has sort of a mother complex with her, maybe. Respects her and views her as a good confidant.
Seth He is grateful for Seth's presence. He'd probably peg Seth as his best-male friend, if he had one.
Taranis Depends on him more than Taranis realises.
Isegrim Not sure. Sometimes, he annoys the hell out of him because he's just so... smooth.
Loki Ah! As long as they're both drunk, he's an all right guy!
Lee Respects him, but in turn is driven as equally crazy by him as some of the other guardians.
Ethne Treats her as a second oracle.
Mike Tiny crush on this one. She's got REALLY nice boobs! Starting to think of her as a good friend.
Kaethe Not sure how she and Mike manage, but thinks Kaethe is understanding and patient, though he's a little annoyed by her occasional tiny type.
Branwen Despises on the sheer fact of tiny type alone.
